• UEA "Voucher" campaign- This began as a grass roots petition campaign where UEA join with other pro public education groups in a coalition, Utahns for Public Schools, to collect the needed signatures to have a referendum place before voters. The petition drive was an overwhelming success. Referendum One, which asks voter weather Utah should use public funding to subsidize private schools, will be voted on in the November election. The campaign continues in an effort to educate the public on why vouchers are bad to public schools, and why people should reject the voucher law enacted by the state legislature.

• Election Day, November 6, 2007 - Educators are encouraged to be involved and exercise their right to vote. It is hoped that members will participate in the election, and help get their friends and neighbors out to vote against referendum 1, Private Education Vouchers.

• Rising Health Care - Educators have concerns that rising healthcare premiums are eating salary increases. Local negotiation teams indicate that past benefits are being eroded be increased costs for health insurance.
